snow on the hills

Someone asked about snow this morning...yes, it is cold enough that I would not be surprised to snow mixed in at higher elevations in the lowlands (above 500 ft)....the latest profiler in Seattle shows a freezing level of 1500 ft, so there could be snow down to 1000 ft below that...and precipiation could cause the freezng level to drop a bit.

Snowing atop Union Hill in Redmond (~600'). Lightly sticking to the grass, and trees. Accumulating very slowly. Been going like this for about an hour.

Lake Stevens 8:43am 300'

We've had a mix of light to moderate rain/snow all morning. It feels very very cold outside (almost like it's freezing rain or sleet?) when I took the dogs for a walk.

I don't expect any accumulation, but I was hoping for it to be a lot warmer!

Snowing like crazy in Maltby. I think it is a colossal April fools joke from the weather gods.

Getting white here on Cougar Mountain (Issaquah)~800ft. Sticking since about 8am. Nothing like the 2+ inches we got April 20, 2008, but still enough to dream of tickets to Maui.

Snowing in the hills of Gig Harbor (about 300ft) all morning. Slight accumulation of slush, but it seems to be snowing harder now. Temp is slowly going down too.

Rain / snow mix just started in Magnolia (Seattle!) Not sticking. Seems like it might only last for a few minutes!

Snowed hard on San Juan Island this morning, at sea level! About 1/2 inch accumulation that is sticking around pretty easily. Rooftops still covered in white and ground all slushy.

Sammamish snow too, just a little dusting on my grass, nothing to shout about.

It was a mix of snow and rain earlier this morning up in Shoreline, near Ballinger Lake. By the time I left for work around 8:45, it was snowing - albeit pretty wet snow. April Fools from the Weather Gods indeed!

It snowed at my house in Tacoma (350 feet) much of the morning. Not sticking like it did (a little bit) Saturday night though.

Mostly rain but a few flakes coming down on Bainbridge. Fun! Happy April. (I'm about 170 feet elev.)

As @slugbiker said, snowing heavily here on Queen Anne, ~450ft, but not sticking.

It seems that "snow above 500 feet" generally includes QA even though we are well below 500 feet. Does the topography actually lower the snow level in some way? Or is 500 just easier to say than 400?

Snowing for past hour at 400 ft in Newcastle. Temp 34 F.

It was snowing at my office in Downtown Seattle (14th floor) and snowing/raining now on Phinney Ridge (200 ft).

I am no longer amused! I am ready for my peas to sprout!

Saw rain and show mix here in Ballard this morning.

Hey zero-speed....it just may feel pretty mild over the weekend and perhaps coming close to 70 come Sun or Mon? That`s kinda what it looks like right now, but we`ll see.
