There is no La Niña this year. Please write about the warming trends vs cooling which we only saw for 2 weeks. It’s February and it should be in full swing right now, however it’s about to be 60 degrees this weekend. I read this post after getting rained on at ski areas all weekend and then seeing record breaking temps a few days after this blog was posted. ...Hey Cliff! Long time lurker, first-time poster.

Love this news for snow in the mountains. In looking at the runs, where can I find the long-term forecasts? I.e, 108-171 hours (see Transition Into Cool/Moist La Nina, "And even farther south on Saturday...heading into the U.S. southwest.")Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14268710936803685281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7478606652950905956.post-31696988990675732652018-01-13T21:11:54.167-08:002018-01-13T21:11:54.167-08:00Over here in Ea-Wa, we're starting to think we...Over here in Ea-Wa, we're starting to think we've dodged a bullet; winter is almost over!
It was hard to believe that we would have back-to-back terrible winters in the first place. Then cooling off again, but the jetstream looks like it will be moving south very quickly by mid-late week leaving us little chance for much new snow... Likely leaving the BC interior cool and dry until the next storm cycle after the alpine warm up... recipe for ice.Kulharinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05095407917935943179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7478606652950905956.post-25173108562395545982018-01-13T15:18:38.999-08:002018-01-13T15:18:38.999-08:00Any sign of lowland snow?Any sign of lowland snow?Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08669692661658072777noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7478606652950905956.post-40580460070462076252018-01-13T12:30:31.546-08:002018-01-13T12:30:31.546-08:00The overall position of the upper level ridge and ...The overall position of the upper level ridge and trough still will be about 20 degrees(longitude) too far west than as normally would be seen in a true La Nina pattern.Good for snowpack building, especially in Northern California.Otherwise,it still looks like relatively ordinary dull wx in these parts, more typical of a ENSO neutral winter. If the offshore ridge can reposition to around 140-150 degrees W longitude in the next few weeks, with the trough axis over land, then there finally could be some truly La Nina weather for us to talk about.Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03855312259314603071noreply@blogger.com
