A weak cold front is now moving into western Washington (see satellite and radar) imagery...with increasing clouds and a few light showers on the coast and NW washington. The onshore pressure gradient is rising (currently about 2.5 mb) and that will cause a modest influx of cooler, marine air overnight. So expect a cooling of 5-10F tomorrow and more clouds.
Cliff, perhaps it's a crazy question... if so, just say so, and I won't at all be insulted.
ReplyDeleteBased on the weather we've had thus far this year and the conditions of the Pacific Ocean, is there any way for you to guess whether our September and October temps will be below, at, or above normal?
Thanks
crud. today is supposed to be pretty for my birthday party
ReplyDeleteJewelyaZ...not a crazy question at all. But one I can't answer with any skill...so I won't pretend to. But the NWS is going for above normal temperatures and below normal precip over the the next three months..
ReplyDeleteMorgan...it will be sunnier this afternoon...so don't give up on your party....cliff
Morgan...hope your party went well! :o) Happy b-day to.
ReplyDeleteToday was very sunny here in my area from pretty much this morning onward. 71 was my high which is 9 degrees cooler from yesterdays high of 79.
Cliff, why would someone give up on a birthday because of some clouds?? If anything, it would probably make it more comfortable. A few clouds and everything has to be canceled?
ReplyDeleteOn This Day, June 29, In 1997, East Of Bend, Oregon, Lightning Blew Up A Large Transformer And Small Natural Gas Pipeline.
ReplyDeleteOoohh....
ReplyDeleteMainstreamer, lightning hitting a transformer and a gas pipeline? That had to be horrible! Power must of been out for SEVERAL DAYS! Hope there weren`t any injuries.
Andy, it's a daily post the NWS office in Pendleton puts out of past weather events. I hope no one was injured either.
ReplyDeleteSome wicked nice sunsets, lately, thanks to Sarychev Peak volcano. http://www.spaceweather.com
ReplyDeleteCliff, at what point does it normally start getting cloudier again for more than a day at a time? I realize I'm asking for a climatological average time of the year and not what's going to happen this year, but I'm curious, and getting really tired of this nothing-but-sun stuff day after day after day after day... Thanks!

ReplyDeleteCliff, I can respond if I'd like. That's the purpose of comments. I can make my own forecasts, and it doesn't look good through the weekend. Don't you understand that I like something different? Is it wrong to like something different? Is it wrong to have my own opinion? Is it wrong to have a different opinion than yours? Just understand that, and understand that I'm not the only one, and there won't be any issues. I asked you a weather-related question, and you come back with that? That's not too nice, even if it is your blog. It seems you answer questions from people who agree with your opinions, but you don't care about those who don't agree with your opinions and instead shun them away. If you just answer my question, that's all I ask. I just said I'm getting tired of this so-called weather, and that's the truth. Sorry if you can't believe that. I'm uncomfortable in these conditions... is that so difficult to believe?
