The wind picked up in a hurry around 2am. Our dog went nuts from the sound. We recorded sustained winds of 35 mph with 50 mph peaks, and we are sheltered from the west (though near a canyon, so that could have nullified any protection). That was the strongest winds I've measured in the six years we've owned this place.<br />Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10933969179645560806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7478606652950905956.post-42566406224254667682018-06-30T17:02:40.424-07:002018-06-30T17:02:40.424-07:00Cliff, this event was similar to, but much smaller...Cliff, this event was similar to, but much smaller scale, the 2012 storm that had multiple downbursts and microbursts. The terrain seems to have controlled where damage occurred. Friends that live about two miles north of us on the other side of a 3500' elev ridge had tens of acres of trees blown down while we had only two uprooted big spruce.Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12077422672752194422noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7478606652950905956.post-56624963093052241772018-06-28T22:45:11.133-07:002018-06-28T22:45:11.133-07:00Good point, Buddy. This was forecast modeling at our worst.
