I ask because after a decade in this area I have noticed a trend upwards for snow levels. This time of year the foothills of North Bend would be snow from 2k upwards but in recent years, especially this year snow levels are bouncing around and rain quickly melts and washes away the snow. The next few days NOAA has issued a landslide watch as snow levels oscillate between 4k and upwards. Id be interested to learn why this happens, ive heard you mention before about being on the 'cold side of the jet' and perhaps in recent years we are on this side less frequently?Jimmyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08711508632143535692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7478606652950905956.post-27881801232298395842020-12-31T12:27:52.859-08:002020-12-31T12:27:52.859-08:00Isn't it well past time for WA to begin additi...Isn't it well past time for WA to begin additional construction of more reservoirs? That said, it is full of information and a learning curve can be expected. Location, location...Great post, very instructive! Location, location, location. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of this winter unfolds. But as-for water resources, they're ample. Precipitation in Glacier this rain year (since October 1) through today is a stunning 26.37" - and I've seen remarkably high daily rainfall (CoCoRaHS) observations in the lowlands all season. Example: Just this morning, an observer on the west shore of Lake Whatcom reported a (stunning) 1.41" for 24 hours. Those of you who aren't familiar with the daily measurement maps can and should add it to your favorites - they're open to everyone: https://maps.cocorahs.org ...and a click on a reporting location (dot) reveals local notes in most cases. Lower British Columbia (Fraser Basin) has been getting hammered; it's a very wet year and this pineapple express looks like it's going to be a humdinger! GREAT images.
