Amazing Contrasts in Maximum Temperatures

These are the maximum temps for the 24-h period ending 10 AM on Saturday.  Amazing contrasts....in the fifties (some near 60F) at locations a few thousand feet above sea level, while it only got into the thirties and very low 40s near sea level.  A number of locations at lower elevations never got above the mid-30s.  It was WAY warmer in Snoqualmie Pass than in Seattle.

This is a real inversion!   I am heading to a local peak this afternoon to enjoy spring-time temperatures and warmth (Issaquah Alps and higher hills on the east side will do)....

I'm not liking this inversion weather. Give me the rain back....

Disgusting what we are going through down here! But I may be X-C skiing tomorrow.

It seems like when we get a high in February, and thereafter, we are far less likely to get these inversions. May times there will be temps about 55 in February... when it's sunny. Is it because the sun is higher in the sky that it produces enough surface heat to stir the air, and that this prevents the development of fog and stagnant conditions?

I am ready for some rain, the fog honestly gives me the creeps and my lungs are unhappy. Clear it out!!

Enjoyed a 12 mile run late Saturday afternoon in Bellingham, shrouded by dense fog and the accompany moisture. Sure, it's nice to head up to Baker for warmer temps, sun, and soft (albeit old, at this point) snow. But hey, it's January in Western Washington, and there's something to be for genuinely experiencing the weather.

We've barely crept to 30 degrees through this whole period - our snow hasn't melted. Mostly low 20's at night to high 20's during the day here - we're just 5 miles north of Monroe in unincorporated Snohomish county. We're tired of it and so are our ducks. Please come back, rain.

I also went to Rattlesnake Ledge yesterday. It was so pleasant at the top! We didn't want to walk down back to the cold. :)
