I have a new podcast that provides an update on the snow forecast for this weekend over the region. There will be huge variations in snow amounts from zero to several feet!
Pretty in Olympia
You can listen here or on your smartphone using your favorite podcast service.
I will be doing a detailed blog around 1 PM, when I will have the latest model output.
Here is my podcast:

Cliff -- can you post the ECMWF accumulated for WA accumulated snowfall? I do not have access to ECMWF and it is so helpful when you do post those graphics!
ReplyDeleteThank you
Just listened to the podcast - exciting!
ReplyDeleteWhen you update later, I'd be curious about the Sunday night system and if you see the Fraser outflow continuing up here in Whatcom County?
You mentioned it would likely be further north and wetter, which sounds like a good snow maker for us, assuming the cold air stays in place.
Thanks!
Hi Cliff! How much snow for Lakewood area?
ReplyDeleteHuh, an inch in seattle yesterday? We had absolutely nothing on the ground in bellevue...
ReplyDeleteHow will Snoqualmie Pass look this weekend?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the in depth explanation, Cliff! We appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteSo Tacoma north will be a bust...all this talk about a major snowstorm was a waste of time...well for those in Olympia south congratulations on a snowstorm...I guess I jinxed Tacoma north folks...3 inches just doesn't seem like something to fuss about...anyway...done with this lame winter...bring on spring...alot to do about nothing...so done with this...
ReplyDeleteYeah, looks like east bellevue will get maybe an inch or two...
DeleteI live in Vancouver and were expected to get a foot of snow tonight
DeleteI live out in maple valley and I have a few questions. so yesterday it was quite windy all day and it also snowed all day. Now (today) though, there is now snow at all on the ground here. the flakes that fell all day yesterday were extremely small and were blown around very easy.
ReplyDeletemy first question was is this most likely going to happen again tonight? another question I had was if sinking air warms, then why were are temperatures still quite colder than other places yesterday? my final question is how come in past years like 2008, or 2019, why was there so much snow but so little wind?
Great Question- I myself have wondered about the easterly winds: We live in Buckley and we have zero snow here- it tried last night but the winds just blew around tiny balls of snow- looked like powdered sugar and that was it, just a dusting. Hoping we can squeeze in a parody of snow tonight despite the wind.
DeleteFrom the NWAC website virtually no snow fell overnight in the north/central Cascades, what happened??? Southerly flow?
